Club History

The Country Cruisers Car Club was established in 1992 when a group of local car buffs got together and formed a club to put on a car show in conjunction with the Manchester Summer Fun Fest.  Well, to say the least the Summer Fun Fest did not last, but we are still here and growing.

Every year, we put on a three day weekend of car events in the Manchester area.  On Friday night, we put on a mini show at Corcoran Furniture.  This is free show and a nice kick off to our weekend.  On Saturday night, we have the largest cruise in eastern Iowa.  Line-up is at E-Z Pickin’s convenience store and we basically shut their parking lot down.  The last few years we have had an average of about 600 cars leave on the cruise with us.  This does not count the cars that join us along our cruise route.  We have never estimated how many people sit outside and watch our cruise go by, but it is somewhere in the thousands.  The cruise route is about 50 miles long and travels through several local towns and Backbone State Park.  We then end our cruise in downtown Manchester with a live band.  On Sunday, we have our car show at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.  We average anywhere from 150 – 200 cars on display .  We have gotten some exceptionally nice cars at our show.  Just go and check out our last year’s Best of Show, a fabulous 32 Ford Zipper.  Take a look at the pictures of some of the cars that have participated at the Past Events page.  

We have recently expanded our cruise experiences.  We are now putting on two tractor cruises a year.  This is a new area for us and the area tractor buffs like to be able to get their John Deere and Internationals out and “take them for a spin”.  It is nice to offer them something to do with their tractors besides just parades.  Check out our Tractor Cruise page and see the tractors and our past tractor cruises. 

Behind all of this is our desire to raise money for our local Special Olympics chapter.  We sponsor a raffle every year to help them be able to participate in the games and enjoy them.  All of the money we raise stays locally to support both the children and adult groups.  We are especially proud of being able to provide this to them.
